Objectif de la mission :

La sensibilisation à la problématique du changement climatique et la pénurie de l’eau en Tunisie à travers la production d’un manuel décrivant la méthodologie de communication à adopter pour les acteurs gouvernementaux et non gouvernementaux travaillant sur cette thématique.

Contexte de la mission :

Pour l’instant, les moyens les plus appropriés pour communiquer sur le changement climatique dans certains pays et régions sont très limités.

Dans le cadre de la mise en œuvre du projet “Permettre une nouvelle conversation à travers le monde arabophone (GCCNP)” qui vise à : permettre aux organisations de niveau national en Tunisie de concevoir et de tester le langage et les récits les plus efficaces pour communiquer sur le changement climatique avec leurs publics prioritaires ; produire des aperçus des récits à travers le monde arabe.

L’objectif de ce projet est de changer le discours sur le changement climatique dans le monde arabe afin de renforcer l’action publique contre le changement climatique ; de renforcer les capacités de communication sur le changement climatique dans d’autres pays sélectionnés dans la région et de diffuser les résultats pour qu’ils soient utilisés par d’autres dans le monde entier.

Le projet est financé par la fondation KR et mis en œuvre en partenariat entre Climate Outreach, Climate Action Network International CAN-I, Climate Action Network Arab World CANAW et l’association Earth Hour Tunisia  (EHTA) ; il a débuté en avril 2019 et se terminera à la fin du mois de Mai 2021.

Dans un premier temps, ce projet a été réalisé en Tunisie par l’EHTA en partenariat avec 9 autres associations dans différentes régions de la Tunisie. Et il aboutit à un premier rapport “La communication sur les changements climatiques en Tunisie”

(https://drive.google.com/file/d/1vSXUXGwgMIJa0HyZ1z2Tbk9ujoT1rqyf/view) détaillant la méthodologie utilisée et donnant des hypothèses sur les langues à utiliser avec succès pour communiquer sur le changement climatique à différentes catégories du public cible en Tunisie.

Afin de promouvoir les résultats du rapport en Tunisie, une campagne de communication est actuellement en cours et a été lancée par la production d’une vidéo en 2D (https://www.facebook.com/EarthHourTunisia/videos/985739871913085), un webinaire et une réunion avec les partenaires nationaux. 

Les activités de la campagne nationale se poursuivront au cours des trois prochains mois et seront lancées en ligne afin d’éviter tout risque de contamination, en se concentrant sur les résultats liés à la thématique “Eau et changement climatique”.

 

Description de la mission :

L’expert est appelé à préparer un support de formation sur la communication autour des impacts des changements climatiques sur les ressources en eau en Tunisie. Il se basera sur le rapport “lien ci-dessus” pour proposer le support relatif à la thématique en question. 

Il sera mis en contact avec 20 à 25 jeunes formateurs, appartenant à des associations partenaires dans différentes régions de la Tunisie, pour les initier à former d’autres jeunes en utilisant le support de formation initial. Ceci sera proposé sous forme de formation aux jeunes formateurs afin de les guider dans la préparation des différentes formations et créer une sorte de synergie et d’ échanges entre eux. Nous ciblons 10 jeunes qui ont suivi une formation des formateurs au sujet des Changements climatiques dans le cadre d’un autre projet, tout en ciblant des jeunes formateurs maîtrisant la thématique.

Livrables :

Le formateur soumettra les documents suivants :

        Le manuel sur la méthodologie de communication sur la thématique eau et changements climatiques

        Les programmes et matériels de formation élaborés pour la formation par courrier électronique, une semaine avant la première session de formation.

        Le rapport de fin de formation, au plus tard une semaine après la fin des sessions de formation.

Within the framework of the implementation of the project “Enabling a new conversation across the Arabic speaking worlds (GCCNP)” that aims are to: enable national-level organizations in Tunisia to design and test the most effective language and narratives for communicating climate change with their priority audiences; produce Insights into narratives across the Arab world.

The goal of this project is to change the discourse on climate change in the Arab world to strengthen public action against climate change; to build capacity for communication of climate change in other selected countries in the region and to disseminate findings for use by others globally.

The project is funded by KR Foundation and implemented in partnership between Climate Outreach, Climate Action Network International CAN-I, Climate Action Network Arab World CANAW, and Earth Hour Tunisia Association (EHTA); began in April 2019 and will be finishing by the end of April 2021.

We are seeking a skilled translator with an understanding of climate change and / or social science to translate our Final report from English to Arabic while ensuring that no meaning is lost through translation.

Scope of work

The translator will undertake the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Translation:
  • Written translation of the Report (composed of 80-90 pages) from English to Arabic,
  • Proofread and edit of the Report
  • All texts, including texts contained in figures, boxes, captions, sources, and covers requires translation and proofreading
  • Ensure that the translation is written with correct grammar and spelling
  • Sharing:
  • Share draft translation with Earth Hour Tunisia that will share with its international partners
  • Changes according to feedbacks and opinion of partners:
  • Incorporate suggested changes into the translation. The translator should be prepared for 2 or 3 rounds of feedback and edits from partners in the project.
  • Being able to receive comments and feedback and giving time to meet with the person who will be following up on the translation work.
  • Sharing the last version:
  • Ensure high quality and accuracy of the entire document before submitting it to Earth Hour Tunisia and its international partners
  • Complete the work within the agreed timeline and submit the final translation via email to Earth Hour Tunisia

Firstly, it was executed in Tunisia by EHTA in partnership with9 other associations in different region of Tunisia. And it results in a report detailing the used mythology and giving hypothesis on the successful languages to use in communicating Climate Change to different categories of people in Tunisia. In order topromote results of the report in Tunisia, a communication campaign is now running on and it has been launched by a production of a 2D video (please find it on our Facebook page) and a webinar. Activities of the national campaign will be continuing in the next 3 months and will be launched online to avoid any risk of contamination. It will be focused on results related to the thematic “Water and Climate Change”. A first draft of the concept note of the national campaign has been already discussed and will be needing deeper developmentthat will be discussed with the future coordinator. The message testingfindings and methodology are now taking further in additional countries in the region (to test their applicability and use them to strengthen advocacy and campaigning efforts. The project’s leanings will then be shared more widely using a micro-site library.

Key objectives of the project are:

• Create new communication narratives with key audiences

• Build the communications capacity of practitioners in the target region, starting with a specific focus on Tunisia

• Shift the narrative

• Create wider influence

Responsibilities of the project coordinator:

The project coordinator’s role will be focused on implementing the activities of the national campaign (including logistics), reporting, and coordinating with the CANAW regional coordinator and Climate Outreach Organization.

Main duties, tasks, and responsibilities: the assignment will include but not limited to the following:

• Project implementation

➢ Monitor, follow-up and supervise the implementation of the national campaign;

➢ Develop a detailed work plan

➢ Coordinate and communicate with the national project partners (9 CSOs)

➢ Coordinate and communicate with the regional coordinator of Climate Action Network Arab Word (CANAW), Climate Outreach and CAN-I (mailings and e-meetings)

➢ Provide reports and update information related to the project activities progress

➢ Prepare monthly timesheet

• Logistical preparation:

➢ Prepare activities for the national campaign

• Support Earth Hour team in fundraising and project portfolio development:

➢ Develop concept note and proposals

➢ Find opportunities of funding (national and international)

Duration and location:

The appointment will be for 3 months from February 1, 2021 to April 31, 2021 and work will be totally online with obligation of face to face meeting at least 1 time per month.


Eligibility:

• Fluency in spoken and written English, preferably bilingual. And very good capacity of communication and reporting in English and Arabic.

• At least 2 years of working experience in the Communication or related field (campaigning and climate campaigns, digital campaign, social medias)

• At least Master’s level degree in Communication or environmental sciences

• knowledge on international and national context of climate change, water and environment

• Experience in project management at national or regional level

• Active in civil society

• Demonstrated IT skills

• Knowledge in design software will be an advantage.

 

Favor and payment terms:

• Net salary of 1400TND

• Social Insurance

• The contract may be renewed or extended if new funding received.
